LOST RECIPES | PUBLICATION DESIGN | BOOK

About the project:

India has always been big on food. The land of spices, Indians have experimented lots with food, dishes, and cuisines. With uncountable religions and traditions throughout India, with every culture having its own food habits and preferences, at every new place, a new recipe can be found. A new way to eat or cook or serve. Food for Indians has been a common binding factor, whether it be amongst families or to bind different nations. Recipes have been handed down for generations in families and have formed the base for many fond memories. But there have also been certain recipes that were left behind in the past due to changing times and evolving cultures. As the world stepped into the age of modernity and digitalisation, many age-old dishes were left simply forgotten.

Lost Recipes is about finding and bringing back those recipes lost to time. It’s about remembering

that energy and beauty that was forgotten along with the recipes. They might be too old for today's

fast-moving world, but there’s still a lot to learn and incorporate from these, inevitably leading to the evolution and creation of new delicacies.

Problem Statement:

After extensive research, the problem identified is creating a place where the recipes can be easily found, with ease of accessibility, proper categorisation, and presenting the recipes in an appealing, organised way. The presented deliverable should be such that it holds the audience’s attention, doesn’t tire them out, and doesn’t make searching for the desired recipes, a tedious process. There is a hunger in people

to be connected to the delicious taste of the past and that process should feel like a smooth, gentle ride.

Target Audience:

Middle- and upper-class families, housewives and house-husbands, chefs, cooks, curators, museums

and historians will be the target of the deliverable since they are most likely to search for and experiment with old and lost recipes. Explorers and chefs from other countries can also be targeted since many of them have taken to exploring the various cuisines found in India, their origins, and ways to take cues from them to improve their cooking.
